Dufaux cycles to victory in third stage of Giro del Trentino
The Swiss cyclist, Laurent Dufaux, has sped to victory in the third stage of the international Italian road race, the Giro (or tour) del Trentino.
The Swiss rider completed the 171.4 kilometre third leg in three hours, 35 minutes and 57 seconds.
He was closely followed over the finish line by Spain's Luis Arrieta and Italy's Stefano Garzelli, who trailed him by five and nine seconds respectively.
With two more stages to go, Dufaux's aggregate time puts him in twelfth place with only two minutes and 39 seconds separating him from the leader, Italy's Francesco Casagrande.
Dufaux's win adds to a successful fortnight of Swiss cycling with victories for Markus Zberg in the Frankfurt Grand Prix on Tuesday and Oscar Camenzind in the Lüttich-Bastogne-Lüttich classic race eleven days ago.
