Family killings in Switzerland – chronology


2006:

30 April: Corinne Rey-Bellet, her unborn child and her brother shot dead in canton Valais. Police have issued an arrest warrant for her husband.

April 18: 43-year-old man shoots his wife before turning the gun on himself in canton Solothurn.

February 26: 40-year-old man shoots his wife and then commits suicide in canton Schwyz.

February 6: 35-year-old man kills his ex-girlfriend and then shoots himself in St Gallen.

February 7: 41-year-old man shoots his wife and commits suicide in Geneva.

February 4: 65-year-old man shoots his terminally ill wife before committing suicide in canton Bern.


2005:

December 2: 12-year-old boy killed in canton Basel City. His mother survives attempted suicide.

September 26: 50-year-old man in canton Thurgau kills his ex-girlfriend, the mother of his new girlfriend and himself.

September 13: a mother and her five-month-old baby found dead in canton Bern. The husband is arrested.

September 12: three children die in a domestic incident in canton Neuchâtel, apparently strangled by their father.

August 28: 34-year-old man in canton St Gallen kills his wife and two step-children.

June 20: 43-year-old man in canton Solothurn shoots his 14-year-old son before killing himself.

June 7: 59-year-old man kills his wife with a kitchen knife and then commits suicide in canton Schwyz.

May 30: father kills his wife and two young children with a hammer before jumping off a bridge.
