It was Lüthi’s first podium place of the 2010 season.
In a wheel-to-wheel finish of the 17-lap race over 75 kilometres, Lüthi was beaten by Toni Elias of Spain, who took top spot, with Shoya Tomizawa of Japan second.
All three were riding Hondas in the new Moto2, which this year replaces the 250cc class.
Lüthi, who finished seventh in the opening grand prix of the season in Qatar on April 11, is currently in third place in the overall standings with 25 points, behind Tomizawa (45) and Elias (38).
The next race is the French Grand Prix on May 23 at Le Mans.
