The tuba is a relatively young instrument: the first patent was issued in 1835. The first serious solo composition for tuba, the "Sonate für Basstuba und Klavier" from Paul Hindemith, was composed in 1955. Compositions by David LeClair (*1955), Eddy Debons (*1968), Daniel Schnyder (*1961), Paul Hindemith (1895-1963) and Cyrill Schürch (*1974).
