I do not. I like my name, am proud of its heritage and ancestry. Nicknames ? I don’t favor them generally. Call anything (human/object) by given name, that which it is, be it human or object. Be clear to circumvent misconceptions and miscommunications.
When my baby sister was a toddler, she could not pronounce my name so she started calling me “Yaya”…and that is to this day. ____When I became a grandparent, I decided that I did not want to be called “abuelita” (grandmother in Spanish), nor Nana, Mimi or Titi, etc. I wanted to be called Yaya. ____One day, on my way to visit my youngest daughter, the passenger next to my seat in the plane was from Greece. We started talking about grandchildren and she asked me how my grandkids called me. So I told her that I liked my childhood’s nickname instead of the traditional names. She laughed hard and told me that as much as I was trying to avoid the reference to being identified as a grandparent, YAYA is grandmother in Greek. 😅____Justice was served on me that day 😅; but I still love it! I feel so honored when I hear those little and high pitch voices (and my baby sister) calling me Yaya. ❤️____…
My friends call me "Sippi" or "ya Sippi" it's a term for "friend" or "bro,". I LOVE being able to spend alot on our shared free-time and providing value to my friends.
Growing up in the Lake Biel region, my name Beatrice had various nicknames such as Trixlà and Bali. Being called Trixli started in school by male classmates. It didn't bother me.
