Swiss National Day
In her August 1 greetings to the 700,000 Swiss citizens living abroad, the 2012 president, Eveline Widmer-Schlumpf, stresses the ties that bind the Swiss wherever they live.
While stressing that Switzerland is a safe haven and support for them, she hopes the Swiss abroad will be standard bearers for Swiss values of freedom, democracy and peace.
