Record number of travellers fly with Swiss
A record number of passengers flew with Swiss International Air Lines in 2008 despite the faltering economy, the company announced on Monday.
Swiss, now owned and operated by German carrier Lufthansa, carried 13.5 million people last year. That was up 10.3 per cent compared with 2007.
In December 2008, 1.07 million passengers boarded Swiss flights, which was an increase of 6.4 per cent compared to the same period in 2007.
For all of 2008 seat occupancy climbed 0.1 percentage points over 2007 totals to 80.3 per cent.
The overall number of Swiss flights also increased to 134,401 for 2008. That was up 6.4 per cent.
