Chocolatier records strong profit
Swiss chocolate maker Lindt & Sprüngli has announced a 20 per cent rise in profit to SFr250.5 million ($255.5 million) for 2007.
The company said on Tuesday that it had posted sales of almost SFr3 billion despite a “highly competitive and challenging” market.
The result was roughly in line with analysts’ predictions.
Lindt attributed its growth in part to its marketing strategy, and said that it had gained market share around the world.
It announced that it would spend more than SFr750 million on manufacturing facilities over the next three years.
