Nestlé voted best employer

Nestlé, Google and Credit Suisse have been rated the best companies to work for in Switzerland in a survey of around 3,700 professionals.

The Ideal Employer Rankings compiled by Swedish consultants Universum Communications sets out which companies are on most business professionals’ wish lists when it comes to employer attractiveness and career expectations.

The balance between work and private life remained the main deciding factor when choosing an employer, ahead of intellectual challenges. Those polled were less concerned about the job itself.

The top ten also included watchmaking giant Swatch (at fifth), retailer Migros (ranked eighth) and chocolate manufacturer Lindt & Sprüngli (at ninth).

Also figuring in the top 20 were pharmaceutical groups Novartis and Roche, banks UBS and JP Morgan, engineering group ABB, the Swiss government and Swiss Federal Railways.

The same three companies were on top in 2010’s ranking, while private banks resumed positions held before the financial crisis occurred.

Similar surveys were carried out in other countries. Globally, Google came out on top, with Nestlé rated 19th, Credit Suisse 33rd and UBS 35th.
