Zurich Financial Services has announced its name change to Zurich Insurance Group Ltd is now valid after being entered into the commercial register of canton Zurich.

The name change was approved at the group’s annual general meeting on March 29.
In a statement the group explained the rationale behind the move. “Over the last years Zurich has streamlined its business portfolio to concentrate on insurance,” it said.
“In recognition of this strategic focus, the reference to financial services in the company name has been replaced by indicating the insurance activity of the group instead.”
Zurich Insurance Group employs some 60,000 people in more than 170 countries. The group is headquartered in Zurich, where it was founded in 1872.
