Swiss skipper Mariam Ott has lost her European championship, falling to Germany in the final of the European Curling Championships in Aberdeen, Scotland. This content was published on December 12, 2009 - 16:49
Ott and her team on Saturday lost 5:7 to Andrea Schöpp, a seven-time European champion, to take silver.
Switzerland came close, throwing the final stone in the final end. But it slid too long.
The teams had been tied 3:3 by the fourth end and Ott and her team of Carmen Küng, Carmen Schäfer and Janine Greiner appeared to have things under control.
But the Germans stole two stones for a 5:3 advantage, which the Swiss did not recover from.
Ott is a two-time European champion (1996 and 2008) and now has ten medals at major championships.
