Cancellara pipped at the post for bronze
Swiss cyclist Fabian Cancellara just missed a medal in the world championships road race near Copenhagen on Sunday, beaten in a photo finish after 260 kilometres.
The new world champion is Mark Cavendish of Britain, with Matt Gross of Australia second, and Andre Greipel of Germany snatching bronze.
Cavendish finished in five hours, 40 minutes and 27 seconds.
The defending champion, Thor Hushovd of Norway, was held up by a mass fall about 80 kilometres from the end.
It was the second disappointment for Cancellara in the world championships.
On Wednesday he lost his bid for a fifth world time trial title to the German Tony Martin. On that occasion he finished third.
