More headaches for Hlasek

Swiss tennis player Emmanuelle Gagliardi has pulled out of next month's Fed Cup tie with Australia, causing more headaches for team captain Jakob Hlasek.

Hlasek, who was sacked one month ago as captain of the men’s Davis Cup team, is having to prepare for the second round tie without Switzerland’s top players.

World number one Martina Hingis and Swiss number two Patty Schnyder have already pulled out of the tie. The long distance involved in travelling to the tournament and the relatively little amount of prize money have reportedly discouraged the players.

Gagliardi, who is ranked 97th in the world and fourth in Switzerland, is currently suffering from a shoulder injury which has prevented her from participating in several major tournaments this season. The Genevan is hoping to enter the world top 40 this year.
