Swiss cycling duo triumphant in Germany
Swiss cyclists Bruno Risi and Kurt Betschart have pedalled to victory in the Bremen six-day race in northern Germany, notching up their 28th six-day title.
The Swiss pair went from third position on Tuesday night to first position on Wednesday, speeding past the finish-line with a 13-point advantage on the title defenders, Austria’s Scott McGrory and Belgium’s Matthew Gilmore.
The Antipodean-Belgian pair had to settle for second place with Italy’s Silvio Martinello and Marco Villa coming in third.
It was the third Bremen jersey for the Swiss duo and their first win of the season.
The triumphant pair now only need one more victory to equal the legendary achievements of the kings of six-day racing, Germany’s Gustav Kilian and Heinz Vopel, who hold 29 titles.
