Federer sails into semi-finals

Roger Federer has cruised into the semi-finals of the Swiss Indoors tennis tournament after defeating Simone Bolelli of Italy 6-2, 6-3 on Friday evening.

The two-time defending Swiss champion now faces Feliciano Lopez from Spain on Saturday in Basel, Federer's hometown.

"I'm very satisfied by how it went," Federer said. "I tried to step up the pressure and so far that's worked well."

In other matchups on the indoor court, David Nalbandian of Argentina, the number two seed, vanquished German Benjamin Becker 7-6 (4), 6-4.

Juan Martin del Potro, the number three seed, also from Argentina, beat Igor Andreev of Russia 6-4, 7-5.

Feliciano Lopez of Spain beat James Blake, the number-four seed from the United States, 6-4, 7-6 (4).
