The Swiss Post has announced that its head, Reto Braun, is to resign. A communiqué said that Braun was leaving at his own request at the beginning of next month.

It added that Braun wanted to pursue a new career challenge. Braun is to become head of the Internet company, Fantastic Corporation, based in Zug in central Switzerland.

A member of the Post’s board, Rudolf W. Hug, is to take over as interim head until further notice.

Swiss Post has been the subject of much controversy over the past few months, with problems relating to a new parcel service and protests over plans to close post office branches.

The Swiss Post last year celebrated its 150th anniversary.
