Burglar betrayed by mobile phone.

Police alerted about a robbery in a home did not have far to look for the culprit when they arrived at the scene in the Swiss town of Pfeffingen. The thief, hiding in a nearby bush, was given away by his own mobile phone.

An off-duty policeman had rushed to the area after hearing on the police radio that a break-in had taken place close by.

But he didn’t have far to look. The ringing handset led him straight to the criminal, who had taken refuge in a bush after a first attempt to escape from the area failed.

After a short chase, the 33 year-old burglar was arrested.

A police dog later searched the area to retrieve the stolen goods, which the burglar had dumped during the chase to help his getaway.
