Two killed in Lucerne shooting
Two people were killed on Thursday evening and two others injured in a shooting incident in the Swiss city of Lucerne, cantonal police said.
A 20-year-old Swiss man, who has not been named, shot and killed a woman who was sharing an apartment in Lucerne with his former girlfriend, who was also injured as she jumped down off the apartment balcony onto the road below.
A 63-year-old female German tourist, who happened to be passing the apartment block at the time of the incident, was wounded in the shoulder by a bullet fired by the gunman as he ran out of the building.
The attacker then turned the gun on himself before collapsing dead in the street.
Initial findings suggest the man had hidden his weapon in a guitar case before calling at the apartment.
Police said the incident bore the hallmarks of a crime of passion, but declined to give further details.
While violent crime is rare in Switzerland, it was the second multiple shooting in a month. Fifteen people died in Zug last month after an armed man stormed into the regional parliament building and opened fire.
