Thousands of volunteers help promote birds in Switzerland
Over the past ten years, the Swiss Ornithological Institute website has established itself as an important registry in attempts to keep track of and protect birds.
To date, 13 million observations in Switzerland have been registered there by volunteer ornithologists. The data is verified by experts. The sightings help ornithologists to decide where to place nesting boxes to promote breeding. The project is such a success that it is being copied elsewhere. (SRF/swissinfo.ch)
