Wawrinka follows Federer out of Montreal
Swiss tennis player Stanislas Wawrinka is out of the Rogers Cup in Montreal, Canada, after being beaten by the American Mardy Fish 6-3, 6-7 (8), 6-0.
His defeat on Friday follows that of Swiss tennis star and world number three Roger Federer to Jo-Wilfried Tsonga.
The semifinals of the competition are now without most of the big-name title contenders as, in addition to Federer, world number two Rafael Nadal and world number four and defending champion Andy Murray have been knocked out.
The sixth-seeded Fish put behind him an error-strewn second set with a dominant third over the Swiss, who is now ranked 14th in the world.
Should Wawrinka produce a good result in Cincinnati, he can hope to return to the world tennis top ten.
