White Christmas expected only in the mountains
While snow is plentiful in the Swiss mountains, low-lying areas are likely to miss out on a white Christmas, forecasters say.

Up to 150 centimetres of snow has fallen in the mountains since Tuesday, but mild weather had raised the snow line to around 800 metres by Friday.
The prospects for skiers look good: Swiss-German public television’s Meteo programme has predicted two to four times as much snow as normal at Christmas.
With the heavy snow in the mountains and rising temperatures has come an increased avalanche risk in some areas.
