Federer jumps forward in ATP rankings

Switzerland's Roger Federer has made it into the top 20 of the ATP tennis rankings for only the second time in his career. The Basel player reached 19th place following his recent strong showing at the Monte Carlo Masters.
The 19-year-old Swiss climbed three places to squeeze into the ATP top 20 for the second time, after strong showings at several recent tournaments.
His latest personal triumph was at the clay court Masters Series tournament in Monte Carlo, where he reached the quarterfinals, despite having to play on his least favourite surface.
Federer hit his way into the top 20 for the first time in February, after winning the first-ever ATP title of his career in Milan. He followed up this success by reaching the finals in Rotterdam and the semi-finals in Marseille.
Brazil’s Gustavo Kuerten tops the list this week, followed by Russia’s Marat Safin and Andre Agassi.
