Air fares to rise at Swiss airlines
SAirGroup airlines, Swissair and Crossair, are to raise some of their fares by an average of three per cent from December 15 due to higher fuel prices.
The company said in a statement on Friday that the increase would affect the upper segment of the fares on international flights, and was agreed to by all scheduled airlines, during an International Air Transport Association (IATA) fare conference held in Geneva in November.
Swisscargo, the air cargo unit of the SAirGroup, raised its prices at the beginning of November, its second increase this year, also because of increased fuel prices.
Prices for airline fuel have increased by around 50 per cent over the past year.
