Swiss Post buys TNT’s international operation

Swiss Post International strikes a deal in the Netherlands Keystone Archive

The Dutch postal, express and logistics company, TNT Post Group, has sold its cross border mail business to Swiss Post International. The divestment was ordered by the European Union's competition authorities.

TNT gave no sale price for the deal, but said the unit had annual revenues of around €11 million (SFr16.7 million).

The EU competition authorities said on March 14 that the unit must be sold off as a condition of approving Delta, TNT’s cross border business mail joint venture with Britain’s Cosignia and Singapore Post.

The sale to Swiss Post International is subject to final approval for Delta, which is expected in the next few weeks, TNT said in a statement.

The TNT Post Group was the world’s first publicly traded postal system launched on the Dutch market in 1998. It provides mail delivery in the Netherlands and offers worldwide mail, express delivery, and logistics services under the brands Royal PTT and TNT.
