Swiss Post wins European award for online services

The European Logistics Association has awarded its “Logistics Excellence” award to the Swiss Post for its online services and e-commerce solutions.

The European Logistics Association has awarded its “Logistics Excellence” award to the Swiss Post for its online services and e-commerce solutions.

The ELA’s jury unanimously selected the Swiss Post’s Informatics Platform E-Commerce project for the 1999 award, saying the platform presents an “attractive full-service package for internet trading.”

Jury chairman Gérard Roux said during Monday’s award ceremony in Brussels that the platform was unique in its approach as it for the first time enabled communication between several traders and several logistics providers.

The IPEC information platform processes orders via internet or a call centre and automatically forwards them to internal or external transport partners. Order, delivery and clearing data are linked while no confidential data are exchanged between purchasers and sellers, according to the ELA.

Swiss Post CEO Reto Braun said the award was “proof that the Post’s e-commerce endeavours are on the right track.”
