Swissair Group holds high-profile talks with Lufthansa

Swissair Group is said to be considering sharing passenger transport with Lufthansa Keystone

Switzerland's national carrier, Swissair Group, has allegedly started negotiations with the German airline, Lufthansa, over a possible alliance, according to the Swiss newspaper, "SonntagsZeitung".

Swissair Group spokesman, Peter Naef, confirmed that his company had already reached a deal over the merger of the two airlines’ respective computer divisions. However Naef refused to comment on a possible alliance of the two airlines’ passenger transport operations.

He said it was “possible” that Swissair Group was in contact with Lufthansa, as well as other companies, with regard to this issue.

According to the “SonntagsZeitung”, Swissair Group and Lufthansa are considering a code-sharing plan, with both airlines sharing certain destinations.
