IMD cements top business school ranking
The IMD business school in Lausanne has been placed third worldwide in the Financial Times’ executive education rankings for 2010.
The school said that the placing – and those of the past few years – confirmed its place among the best business schools in the world.
Harvard Business School in the United States took the top spot in the 2010 top 50, with HEC Paris in France second.
The list is a compilation of rankings for both open and customised executive education programmes, for which IMD came third and fifth respectively. IMD’s overall placing in 2009 was second.
Guy Schröcker, head of client services at IMD, told swissinfo.ch that the school was happy with the 2010 result and especially with the trend over the past few years.
“We are ranked number one outside the US and number two worldwide if we look at the average ranking from 2008-2010, so we are again among the best business schools in the world,” he said.
He said that it showed that the school was appreciated by its partners and that the IMD was “much more than a business school because we develop collaborative solutions and with a sustainable impact”. Such surveys are important, he added, to both the school and its clients.
The Financial Times poll is one of several high profile global business school rankings. It is based on online surveys with clients and the institutions.
