Franz Liszt: Années de Pèlerinage I & Piano Sonata in B minor. Michael Korstick, piano.

As many other contemporary Romantic composers also Liszt spent a period of his lifetime in Switzerland. From his base in Geneva in the 1830s he undertook voyages all across the country. His work The Années de Pèlerinage is to be considered his refined musical diary of these years. Besides the famous Vallée d'Obermann other pieces like Eglogue reflect the simple sheperd's life by interwaving alpine songs. On this recording pianist Michael Korstick from Cologne displays brillance and sensitivity.
