Grünenfelder wins World Cup Super G in Canada
Swiss skier Tobias Grünenfelder has raced to his first World Cup victory, beating countryman Carlo Janka by 0.07 seconds in a Super Giant slalom at Lake Louise.
Grünenfelder completed the 2.4-kilometre Men’s Olympic course at the winter resort in 1 minute, 32.31 seconds.
“It’s very emotional and I’m very happy,” said Grünenfelder, who turned 33 on Saturday. “It was a long time for me to wait for the first win. It’s a great feeling.”
Austria’s Romed Baumann was third in 1:32.58. Switzerland’s Didier Cuche was fifth in the event.
