Police and soldiers prepare for the worst

Policing Euro 2008

Germany and France are supplying up to 1,000 police officers to assist with security measures at Euro 2008. Police chiefs say the extra officers are required due to the large number of spectators – up to 5 million – expected to visit the tournament in June. Up to 15,000 soldiers will also be on standby to help in the event of a security alert. (SF1/swissinfo.ch)
