Rosset knocked out in Monte Carlo
Switzerland's Marc Rosset has been knocked out in straight sets at the Monte Carlo Masters tournament. He was beaten 6-4, 6-4 by Spain's Carlos Moya, the number 16 seed.
However, there was sunnier news from the Bermuda Challenge tournament, where George Bastl overcame the loss of the first set to see off the Norwegian, Christian Ruud, 5-7, 6-2, 6-2.
The match was Bastl’s first since his five-set decider in the Davis Cup quarter-final match against France. He will now meet Peter Wessels of the Netherlands in the second round.
Swiss hopes in Monte Carlo now rest on Roger Federer, who cruised to victory in his first round match against Michael Chang in straight sets 6-4, 6-3.
