Swine flu found in Basel

A Basel-area woman has become Switzerland's third confirmed case of swine flu.

The Federal Health Office said on Sunday that the woman was currently taking antiviral medication for the influenza A illness and was in isolation at her home in Basel Country.

The woman had recently returned from the United States and began suffering from flu symptoms during the trip.

Doctors at Basel City Hospital diagnosed the woman with the H1N1 virus and sent tests to a national influenza centre in Geneva to await confirmation.

The woman had flown from Washington, D.C., to Zurich. The airline she was on has produced a list of people on the flight.

Previous cases include a 19-year-old man from canton Aargau and a 24-year-old woman from Bern. Both contracted the illness in North America and are doing well.
