Disappointment at four-man bobsleigh event

Switzerland only managed 7th and 8th places at the World Cup four-man bobsleigh competition in the Italian resort of Cortina d'Ampezzo on Sunday.

Martin Annen, who took the bronze medal in Saturday's two-man race, finished 7th, along with teammates Silvio Schaufelberger, Beat Hefti and Cedric Grand. They came down in 1'45"84.

Switzerland's freshly named European Champion, Martin Reich, finished just behind them in 1'45"92, with teammates Steve Anderhub, Stefan Hammer and Domenic Keller.

Two German competitors finished in the top three on Sunday. Andre Lange took first place in 1'44"72 and compatriot Matthias Benesch took the bronze in 1'45"55, while France's Bruno Mingeon finished second in 1'45"48.
