Albrecht second in Wengen

Switzerland's Daniel Albrecht has finished runner-up in the World Cup super combined ski race in the resort of Wengen.

France’s Jean-Baptiste Grange won the competition, while American Bode Miller came third. His compatriot Ted Ligety missed the podium and finished fifth.

Grange, who was outside the top ten in the downhill leg, completed the fastest slalom race of the day for a combined time of two minutes, 20.61 seconds.

World Cup overall leader, Benjamin Raich of Austria, was fourth.

Switzerland’s Didier Cuche who recorded best time in the downhill leg, did not compete in the slalom event.

Friday’s super-combi race came ahead of a special slalom in Wengen on Saturday and the prestigious Lauberhorn downhill race on Sunday.
