Mikron unit joins forces with Tecstar
Mikron's joint venture with the Balda Group, Balda Mikron, has entered a strategic alliance with the United States company, Tecstar, to produce moulds and plastic components.
Under the agreement, the partners will join forces to supply the North American market.
In a statement on Monday, the Biel-based industrial group said the tie-up would significantly facilitate the venture’s entry into North America. It will also mean the transfer of production volumes from the US to Balda Mikron’s Asian production plants.
Tecstar specialises in multi component moulding and injection moulding of plastic components for the consumer electronics market such as mobile phones or medical devices.
Tecstar has also signed a letter of intent to take a 50 per cent stake in Mikron’s Texas-based operation that was set up to provide products for the communications sector. A new company called Mikron Tecstar will supply plastics components to customers in the southern US and Mexico.
