A time to rest and (really) clean
Ah, sometimes it's nice to rest. No wonder vacations were invented. I should also apologize for a dirty laundry photo you’re about to see.
Today I visited with my friends Larry and Martine Ware from Leysin, who brought over my equipment bag containing a change of boots, climbing ropes, and other technical gear. Also got to visit a bit with Cam Burns, my partner for the next few weeks of harder climbing. We've only met once, though we've corresponded a lot. He's the editor of the obituaries section of the American Alpine Journal, which I hope will not become ironic. Also did laundry along with packing for a new stage of the journey. I think you’ll understand why I needed to take a picture of that tub. It shows what comes of working hard for five days in the same clothes. Feeling fresh. At least for now…
