"I became somewhat nervous when I was out ahead," Käser said after the race.

Käser's seventh place boosted her standing to 12th overall, with another eight races to go in the 11-race series.

In the first two races at the weekend she finished in 15th and 16th place. However, she was confident she would improve over the next few days.

"I am pretty happy with my performance," she said. "But I should be about five places higher in the rankings," Käser said.

Meanwhile in the new 49er skiff class, the Swiss pair, Tom Rüegge and Claude Maurer, finished sixth in the second of their 11-race series.

After coming 15th out of 17 in the first race, Monday's result leaves the crew in 10th place overall.
