Ricola Herbal Lozenges

The word Ricola has become synonymous with a tasty lozenge or candy that is especially soothing for the throat, and often used against cough. Although now available worldwide, the product started in Switzerland. It was the idea of a Swiss banker, who invented the Ricola formula made of 13 different alpine herbs. His name was Emil Richterich, and he lived at Laufen near the city of Basel. Swiss Radio International’s Robert Brookes has the story.
