Police have lowered the number of people killed on Friday from 93 to 76. A spokesman on Monday confirmed 68 people died in a shooting rampage at a Labour party youth conference at Utoeya island. The number of people killed in a bomb blast at government buildings in Oslo rose from seven to eight.
On Monday the man charged with the deaths was ordered to be detained for at least two months after an initial closed door hearing in Norway.
Meanwhile, the head of the Geneva-based World Council of Churches said the gunman abused Christianity with his claim to represent the faith in his attacks.
General secretary Rev. Olav Fykse Tveit said the killings had “nothing to do with Christianity” and added that Muslims should know “these actions in no way can express what is our Christian faith and our Christian values”.
