UK police make second arrest over alleged prisoner escape
LONDON (Reuters) – British police have arrested a woman in connection with the alleged escape from a London prison last year of a former soldier accused of offences relating to terrorism and the Official Secrets Act.
Daniel Khalife escaped last September from Wandsworth prison by attaching himself to the underside of a food delivery truck, prosecutors say.
On Friday, police said they had arrested a 25-year old woman at an address in east London on suspicion of assisting an offender. The woman was released on bail.
In January, a man was arrested on the same charge.
Police said neither of those arrested were members of staff at the prison.
Khalife was recaptured while cycling alongside a canal in west London after a four-day nationwide manhunt. He will go on trial in October this year after he pleaded not guilty to charges of escaping from the prison.
