Second gold for Swiss shooters

Fribourg's Norbert Sturny has added another medal to Switzerland's tally at the world shooting championships in Lahti, Finland.

Sturny took the gold in a tightly-contested 300-metre prone final.

The Swiss marksman finished the final with the same points total (597) as four other competitors but was awarded first place after registering a perfect 100 in the final round.

Sturny’s gold is Switzerland’s second at the championships following an earlier triumph by Marcel Bürge in the 50-metre rifle, three positions discipline.

The Swiss also have a silver medal from senior competition, thanks to the efforts of Estelle Preti in the women’s 300-metre prone, as well as two further medals from the junior section.
