The Swiss have declared war on ragweed, or ambrosia, whose pollen can cause serious allergies including asthma. The Federation and various Swiss cantons are making a concerted effort to stamp out the nuisance. Zurich now has its own ambrosia inspector, whose job it is to explain to farmers, street workers and gardeners how to recognise and dispose of the weed. (SF1)
