Should Wi-Fi be free in public places?

Getting connected to the internet away from the home or the office can be a challenge even in a country like Switzerland. Should the authorities provide free public Wi-Fi access?

Some Swiss cities as Geneva or Lucerne have set up Wi-Fi access points enabling users to connect with the rest of the world free of charge. For everywhere else, locals and travellers often have to rely on the expensive connections provided by telecommunications’ operators.
