Swissair to add cross-country flights
The Swiss national airline, Swissair, has dismissed speculation that it would reduce the number of flights between Zurich and Geneva for cost-cutting reasons. The airline on Monday said it would expand the daily connections to 14 beginning October 28.
Describing the speculation in recent media reports as “baseless and incorrect”, Swissair said that as announced in June, it would operate a total of 14 flights each day in both directions when the winter timetable begins.
A statement said that the airline was taking steps to ensure the punctuality of flights.
Swissair’s chairman and chief executive officer, Mario Corti, said that a “well-performing and attractive” connection between Geneva and Zurich was important to the company.
“These measures are designed to provide passengers from western Switzerland with better connections to the entire world,” he said.
