Unemployment rate remains steady
The unemployment rate remained steady at 1.7 per cent in May, according to the latest figures from the Federal Statistics Office.
The number of people unemployed in Switzerland now stands at 61,097, slightly down from April’s figure of 63,032.
The number of job vacancies has also remained steady at 14,195.
Analysts said the unemployment data could be seen as another sign of a cooling of the Swiss economy, fanning expectations that the Swiss National Bank might cut interest rates as early as next week.
