Companies probed over strong franc tactics

The Federal Competition Commission has launched investigations into several companies that allegedly used illegal import tactics to work around the strong Swiss franc.

The companies are believed to have drawn up agreements to take advantage of exchange rates without accounting for the difference in profit margins.

Solothurn electronics firm Jura is believed to have carried out parallel imports of its products while Aargau beauty product manufacturer Care on Skin is under investigation for its online sales to specialist resellers.

Other areas being reviewed are the sale online of bikes and electronics.

“The investigations underway are just the beginning of a series of several procedures that will be opened in the coming weeks and months,” the commission said in a statement.

Incidents have been reported to the commission by consumers since August.
