Solar branch faces tough times due to price squeeze

On March 2, the Swiss based Oerlikon Corporation announced that it was selling its solar branch to Tokyo Electron in Japan. Oerlikon Solar had been established as a standalone business segment in 2008, and was considered an important player in Swiss efforts to withdraw from nuclear energy by 2034. But solar equipment manufacturers like Oerlikon have suffered from a recent collapse in orders because of industry-wide overcapacity. (SF/swissinfo.ch)
