A condom allegedly discovered by a seven-year-old Fribourg girl in the wrapping of a McDonald's hamburger meal shows no traces of semen, initial tests have concluded.

A woman took the meal carton, containing an open condom wrapper, to local police in western Switzerland on April 30. She claimed that her child had discovered it in food purchased in a restaurant in Granges-Paccot.

Police are still investigating the complaint and have not ruled out criminal proceedings.

"But if it turns that the condom has not been used at all, the level of endangerment to others would be reduced," a police spokesman said.

More in-depth tests are to be carried out to determine whether there are bacterial traces on the condom. The police are trying to establish how the contraceptive ended up inside the food wrapping.
