100 Jahre Jost Ribary (100 Years Jost Ribary)
Jost Ribary (1910-1971) was a legend in Swiss folk music. Born to farmers in Oberägeri, canton Zug, he picked up the clarinet and saxophone at an early age. Already in his twenties Ribary became nationwide known both as virtuoso instrumentalist and famed composer. 1942 he moved to Zurich and embarked on a professional career as musician thereafter. This double CD spotlights some of the over 800 pieces Ribary composed during his lifetime. The A side features new interpretations by clarinet eminences of these days scene while the B side contains original recordings by the Kapelle Jost Ribary spanning the years 1945-70.
