swissmusic

New age / zen styled. The xala is a self constructed wooden vibraphone of 800 pounds weight and is mainly played by feet by dancing on it and with additional help of thick sticks. Bernese xalaist Ania Losinger, the only person worldwide to play that instrument, premieres on that album along with vibraphonist Matthias Eser. Their rhythmical and hypnotic music is inspired by Chinese sounds and far Eastern numerology referring to the five elements earth, water, fire, metal and wood.
